Question : Our old, Baker Instrument supplied Epson or Citizen printer failed, and we need a new printer. I tried another Epson and it did not work. Why?

Answer :

Epson LQ driver compatible printers were supplied with D series testers manufactured between 1994 and 2000. After January of 2000 all new testers have been supplied with Hewlett Packard printers. (Unless specially configured with the old Epson driver) The HP models use the PCL3 printer language. Epson LQ model printers are no longer in production by Epson.

The best way to proceed is to update the EPROM in the tester. This will allow use of the wide variety of Hewlett Packard printers available. This can be done in the field or, the machine can be sent to Baker Instrument Company for upgrade.

Hewlett Packard printers supported by the update include:

HP 2600 series = PCL 5c
HP 2280 series = PCL 3 and PCL 5c
HP 2230 series = PCL 3
CP 1700 series = PCL 3e
CP 1160 series = PCL 3
DeskJet 1220C series = PCL 3e
Deskjet 990C series = PCL 3e
Deskjet 970C series = PCL 3
DeskJet 960C series = PCL 3e
DeskJet 950C series = PCL 3
DeskJet 940C series = PCL 3e
Deskjet 930C series = PCL 3
Deskjet 920C series = PCL 3e
Deskjet 840C series = PCL 3
Deskjet 640C series = PCL 3
Deskjet 630C series = PCL 3
Deskjet 610CL series = PCL 3
Deskjet 350C series = PCL 3e
