| AWA Version 4 Software Reports an Emergency Stop & Stops Testing | |||||||||
|
Question: Advanced Winding Analyzer series 2 and 3AWA version 4 software reports an “Emergency Stop” error and stops the testing. Version 3.02 and earlier software still works ok. Answer:
An enhanced Emergency Stop function is present in the AWA software version 3.03 and later. This requires a minor hardware modification to the AWA winding resistance board. This board has the Baker part number 80-125. On this board you will see a transistor “Q1”. Remove this transistor. 1) Power off the AWA, unplug AC power. 2) Remove the top cover. 3) Locate the 80-125 board. It is located right behind the high voltage test leads. 4) Remove the Q1 transistor. It is recommended to follow proper ESD (Electro-Static-Discharge) precautions by using a properly grounded workstation and electronic tools. In a pinch, you should be sure to touch the chassis sheet-metal to discharge your self before removing Q1 with a pair of small wire clippers. 5) Replace top cover. 6) Apply power and test for effect.
